After School Movies - The Winslow Boy

I plan to begin showing films in our classroom after school on Thursday afternoons from 3:15 to 4:00. I will begin showing these films NOT this Thursday, Jan 7, but NEXT Thursday, January 14 when we will view the first part of a film version of The Winslow Boy. Students will be expected to view certain of these films, but will not be required to view them at the after-school showing. In the case of The Winslow Boy, students are expected to watch the film, but can do so either after-school or at home on youtube. Here is the first of eleven youtube sections of the whole film.

PLEASE NOTE: For the purposes of our class, "OFF-BOOK" means knowing ALL LINES and not needing a script at all. It DOES NOT mean knowing some or most or even almost all lines. Rehearsal on ALL DAYS after which students are meant to be OFF-BOOK will be assessed. Students who are not OFF-BOOK at rehearsals by which they need to be will fail that day's assessment. This means that not being OFF-BOOK by the set date on several occasions will seriously bring down a quarter grade. Please make sure that this doesn't happen. Everyone has demonstrated that they can learn lines. Knowing all lines by a set date just means getting a certain part of the work out of the way early. Having time to rehearse without worrying about lines any more will greatly improve everyone's work.

Monday, January 4 - Reflection

For the remainder of the year, we will submit fifteen minutes of reflective writing each class day on that day's class(es). Today, we created groups for two projects titled "All the World's a Stage I'm going Through" and "A Night on the Mountain" and began planning and scripting them. Please submit your reflection as a comment here.
