Reflection - Monday, February 8

Today, the majority of our group were away on a Geography trip. Those who were present worked further rehearsing our scene from The Winslow Boy, and making decisions about how roles will be divided. Please submit your reflection here.

PLEASE ALSO NOTE:

1. Tomorrow (Tuesday, DAY 2), we will be working on "Picture Scenes". These scenes are particularly important to those taking the IGCSE, as your picture scene will almost certainly serve as a piece of your coursework and, as such, account for 20% of your course grade. Please take these seriously and have them reflect your best ideas.

2. I have sent a large set of monologues to those students taking the IGCSE. If you feel as though you would be well served by performing another monologue to serve as your IGCSE coursework monologue, please look through these and choose one you would like to work with. If you don't find any here, I have others. Ask me!

3. I have also sent out to those taking the IGCSE the scene from The Queen Must Die with which a set of students have been having success. Please consider learning one of these roles in order to have another potential piece of strong coursework.

4. TOO MANY STUDENTS ARE NEGLECTING THESE REFLECTIONS! Please start participating in this NOW! If you do not, it will negatively affect your grade.

  3. Today in class we had a double lesson. About half the class was gone because they had a geography field trip to go to. Since it was only about 6 of us, we discussed a bit in the beginning of class on what we could work on, being that pretty much everyone from one group of something was absent. So we decided to work on Winslow boy. We first started just reading it, but then we decided to actually try and play it out on our feet. I played arthur, astrid played catherine, ema played grace, beatrice was Ronnie, patrick did both desmond and john, which was quite amusing, and izzy played violet. Mr. McLachlan played the rest of the parts where people were absent.
I really enjoy this scene, even though its long i really like it. I cant wait till we all actually start learning our lines because its a comical scene, and I also like the language it uses, like the old english stuff. Well as we were acting it out, people were getting a feel of how to act there character out, since it was the first time reading there part for many, including myself. But it was fun.
Then at the end of class, we discussed how we all were going to split up the parts that had two people. For arthur, its me and blue. We still aren't sure who wants to do which part, but hopefully by tomorrow we will come to a conclusion. Both of us dont really care, we'd take either so I dont know.
Other than that, tomorrow we start working on picture scenes which willl be good, seeing that we havent worked on them at all really. I thnk that I'm with Megan now because at first she was with Ema, but since Ema isnt doing her IGCSE we thought it be good if we paired up. So yeahhh well see everyone tomorrow :)

  5. I was in the class, but I could not leave any comment in the blog as my internet was off.
Mama didn't pay for it=) sorry)

Well we had a double lesson, and at first we were not sure about what we shoukd have done as we had a lot of people gone to a geography field trip. And so we all decided to The Winslow Boy...I thought the way Mr Machlaclan gave the roles are really good.
I am Grace in this scene, and I am sharing this role with Desiree. Since she wasn't there when we've done it, I will discuss with her next class who is going to appear for which scene. There should be no problems with that.
I actually really like this script as it has some sence of humour in it and the way we can act it.
Also I should say that the way Mr. Maclachlan played was amazing, fun and really...I mean really cool. Now I have aim to work for.
Hopefully we continue working that way and I am sure we will be good.
The scene is really ling, but the time passes really fast, perhaps because I really like it and it is interesting...

Hopefully we will have time after in the class when can all go through it again standing up as on the last lesson.

    Thank you....))))
