Today in drama, we did a lot of different things.. It was spaced out to do a lot of peices of work in the short double lesson that we had. We got atleast twenty minutes of everything in and this was really beneficial for us to have time to rehearse a bit in class, since it is really hard for us to meet outside of school because of the exams that are coming up....Firstly me and beatrice worked on our bit at the beggining of The Winslow Boy, this is the bit where we have our most lines, so we went over our lines for that particular bit and also practised our expressions and actions. Then after that i did my picture scene practice with des and bekky! We had toned down our script so we changed alot and this was our first time doing our new script all together.. and i think it was a good first rehersal...After that i went with bekky, blue and matilda to start out hitman script for the first time ever! We didn't get very far with the script because we were having a mind block.. and wanted to be original but felt some of the ideas were to cleshay or too difficult to act out with the number of people we had in our group. So it really needs more work, we ended it by discussing character names... And shortly after this i went to with bekky izzy and meg to "All the Worlds A stage" and i really like what we are doing in this one. When i was sick the group came up with it, and i thought it was so creative.... We start it by all being in a frame and reciting a very deep line, and then we show eachothers sad storys.. for example megan is abused im an alocholic becky is bullied.. It is very interestng peice, and seems like a very emotional one too, i am really looking forward to doing the script and doing this scene! Good job with time manegment everyone!! see you tomorrow! :)

Today we all worked on a lot of things, basically everything that there is left to do. I think it was a really helpful double lesson and that we all moved forwards in some way even if it wasnt a giant leap :D

Im really excited/nervous about performing the picture scenes in front of the entire high school because well i dont know, Astrid and i have to work a little more on it :) which we did do today and i think we've got the first page lines down 200% :D and the rest is like 90% in the right order, we know it but change the order round someimes. we will be working on that this easter though.

The winslow boy i worked on with becky and there are like two lines when we have to say different things simultaneously and we rehearsed that bit and it is waaaayyyyyy way better than what it was before!!! also we have helped each other with the way we say our lines by giving feedback and finally just working together on it because usually one of us is absent or something happens; well we have only done our part properly in the scene once in the beginning when she didnt have her lines, so this was extremely useful.

the night on the mountain only needs rehearsal because if we had had a little more time in class to work on it, we could have done it agian but we can just as well do that outside of class or tomorrow. we think that we know what we want to do with the end of it now :D i hope it will be good and funny.
The hit man script was not very effective because people weren't cooperating and basically we didnt manage to accomplish much but im sure something good will happen in the end :D

then finally, all the worlds a stage: we got an idea of how to start it and what will happen in the beginning and all though what i want to do is a little different, i didnt bohter arguing, but i mean what we're doing is good. it will eventually be a humerous and interesting scene :)

i liked todays class but i felt a little bit stressed due to all the things that we were doing but still confident. most of that stress was because right after the class i was going to do my spanish oral exam, so i was really nervous.... anyway, it was a very effective class. But the best part was the beginning when we were given chocolate :P :D for easter, it was really nice, THANK YOU!!! :D

  3. Today we had a double lesson and it was a very productive class. We worked on basically everything that we have left to perform.
First we started off working on the picture scene. I think everyone in my group can agree that this scene is so frustrating because we cant get an ending to it. But in class, we were working on it a bit, we didnt get too far with it because we ran out of time though. But i think we know mostly our lines we just need to work on the last page and the new things we add to it.

Then after fifteen minutes were up, we worked on Winslow Boy. I was going to work with Denis on the John and Arthur part but he wasnt here today. So instead we started from the beginning after Violet and Ronnies scene. Ema, Astrid Meg and I worked on it. I think most of us know ur lines, we just have to work on the cues. But hopefully during break everyone willl work on getting their lines down pat.

Then after the next 15 minutes we changed to A night on the mountain. Blue, Bea, Sam and I worked on memorizing our lines because thats all we have left to do. And we need a lot of it. We all know basically what to say its just getting the cues down right and making sure that we dont really skip any words because each word is important. Hopefully tomorrow we can bring in our pile of clothes to help us work on it better.

Then we moved on to The Hitman. ITs with Meg, astrid, Izzy and I. We started to creat our script. We got a few lines down. We know our story line and whats gonna happen. Im the hitman, meg and astrid are husband and wife and Izzy is the news reporter. The scene starts off at the couples house becasue they have invited the hitman over for dinner because he is new in the neighborhood, but they dont know hes the hitman yet. Im really looking forward to this scene. I think it will turn out very good.

Then finally we worked on All the worlds a stage. Its astrid, blue, matilda and i and we got together and began to discuss how we were going to start it. We came up with the idea to start it off playing a serious scene and then someone messes up and it all begins to fall apart. We are thinking of acting it out from Romeo and juliet but we havent come to a conclusion yet. We still have a lot to work on but with the direction we are going it i thnk it will be good.

Overall it was a great, productive lesson and i cant wait for tomorrows :)

  4. Today we worked on a variety of things, we went over everything that wasn’t finished. I think it was a really helpful lesson and that we actually managed to get a lot done. We have now started our script for All The World’s a Stage and The Hitman. We decided on characters and started with our script. I am very happy with the groups as I feel we are making a lot of progress.

I’m very nervous about performing the scenes, mostly A Night On The Mountain scene, especially in front of high school. The scene is rather embarrassing and not one I actually like to much, it was written in a hurry and it’s all we could come up with. I think it’s pretty much the only scene I’ll be reluctant to perform. The other scenes which we did do today I would have no problem performing as they are very creative and different ideas and I feel that they have a lot of potential. We will have to somehow work on these scenes during Easter as much as possible.

I worked on my lines for the Winslow boy. I am still a little confused as to how Beatrice and I have split the part as she was rehearsing a part which I had performed previously and I’m not quite sure how we are splitting it any more! Also I think I know my lines much better and I will be able to do the scene without a script. This time was spent well and was very useful for me.

The night on the mountain, I have already said is quite embarrassing for me. It needs more rehearsal as I can’t seem to be scared when they try to scare me and instead start laughing, we need to go over it again and hopefully it will turn out a little better.

The Hitman was not a waste a time because we managed to start our script and decide exactly who the characters are. There was a bit of fooling around but it gave us an idea of what we want to do with it. We had decided that a couple (Astrid and Megan) invite their new neighbor over (Ashlie), not knowing that he is actually the Hitman that is all over the news. I am the news reporter and will be talking about the Hitman and his crimes, we have not got to my scene yet but I feel with a little more time it will be a great scene.

With All the World’s a Stage, we continued with our idea of four different girls with four different problems. We started our script and discussed exactly who will be who in the little scenes that take place. We discussed more on what their problems are and how they will deal with them. We also discussed that once the mini scene is over they step back into the frame and smile again, then move on to another person. We discussed costuming and props and we have a vague idea of what we want.

We also worked on the picture scene but we didn’t get much done and only wrote about two lines. The scene has a lot of potential but none of us are sure as to what to do with it. We are not sure as to whether the police man should give in to the boy and the waitress or keep his idea of him not being allowed to use his gun. We need some help on this and we also need to discuss it more as a group.

I liked today’s class but I feel that we still need time with all the scenes, with Night on the Mountain we just need to rehearse a little bit more. I feel we need much more time on the other scenes which we started today. It was a very effective class and we got a lot done. Looking forward to tomorrow’s lesson :)

To we started of with going throught the Winslow Boy. We all went of in different groups and went through different scenes of the Winslow Boy. I was with Ashlie, Emilia and Megan where we went through the first pages of the script. Everyone was pretty much off-book on their lines and I really think that it went smoother and it does go smoother for every time we go through, which is great!

After this me and Matilda went throught our picture scene. It went surprisingly well! Today Matilda started of joking a lot but it went down, thank god! Haha :) It was fun and I enjoyed it a lot. Me and Matilda had a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it! Our scene is looking good and I'm looking forward to finishing it off after easter.

After that we started writing the script for the Hitman. The script is off to a very interesting start. Ashlie, Megan, and Izzy are in my group and we all came up with ideas so everyone got to put in something in the script which felt great that everyone is working together! We got all of characters sorted out and it looks like this is off to a very good start!

After this we went through the Worlds a Stage, where I'm in a groupe with Blue, Ashlie and Matilda. We have an idea of what the script is going to be about and what we are doing. We are going to have an act within a act, which seems very interesting. We are going to start of the scene with acting another scene from a serious play and then the play starts to slowly fall apart and everyone has their own personal reaction to this and it comes across very clearly. I'm looking forward to writing the script for this scene. But at the moment we are stuck at the part where we have to find an act to act within the act.

For the last 16 minutes we worked on the Night on a Mountain. Des and Patrick are in my group and we are at the point where we all just have to be off book to be able to work this scene and try to make it better. But it doesnt look too shabby! I'm looking forward to the day when everyone is off book and it will run smoothly, which it will one day, hopefully. If everyone puts in the effort which is needed.

Todays lesson was really useful and I enjoyed it. But I think that we had too little time to work on each thing, but thats all.

In my opinion todays drama double lesson was very well organised. Mr.M wrote down all the things we were going to do that day and it really worked out.

First we went through the Winslow boy. I was focusing on learning my lines a bit better and we went through the script a bit. It seems as though everyone is learning their lines better and better and that is a really good thing as everything will run much smoother.

After, sam, rebecca and i went through our picture scene. we changed the script a lot because some words werent very appropriate. i like how its coming together though as we all know our lines well and we all like the plot of it.

Our 3rd exercise was to write the script of the hit man. im with denis, ema, beatrice, and patrick. we already wrote our script on blues laptop, but unfortunately she forgot to bring it with her so we coulndnt go over the lines. instead of wasting time and doing nothing, we discussed how we can improve our piece and brainstormed a lot.

After, we went on to the worlds a stage. im still a bit confused on what were doing here as ema wants to do some kind of cementary thing. i still dont know how we are going to do that as its a bit difficult but actually not a bad idea!! we shall discuss further tomorrow!

for the last 16 minutes i worked on the night on the mountain with patrick and astrid. its coming along quite well. we all have to learn our lines a bit better especially patrick, but otherwise it was good fun..

i really enjoyed todays lesson and though it was very useful!

Today’s lesson was very enjoyable. It was the only double lesson in which we got a lot done instead of sitting in a circle and talking about what is to be obtained in the next few lessons. It’s a good idea that Mr M writes the lesson plan on the board and gives us a few min to perform each one because it directly shows us what is to be expected during the lesson.

I am extremely happy with the groups I am in because I enjoy working with all of them. I am not particularly happy with the fact that we have to perform our scenes in front on high school! This is going to be extremely nerve-racking, I do hope the plan changes and we at least perform them in the middle school music room :(.

We didn’t get very far with our hit-man production because we are seriously stuck in what we have to do. This is probably the only scene I am a little iffy about but hopefully with full attendance and cooperation we will manage to produce a ‘gradable’ scene!

The Winslow boys is coming along good and I am surprisingly enjoy working on this piece :). I do need to be more confident when it comes to learning my lines, but with more practice I think I will manage to perfect the piece, hopefully. We didn’t practice Night on the Mountain that much because a member of our group was missing and it is hard to perform it with someone absent as we all have to contribute to this performance to bring it up to the climax ant the end, so with one absent member the scene doesn’t work.

A stage is most probably my favorite production for the simple reason that our group is full attentive and ready to begin to make this scene A* material. I am looking forward to carry on pursuing this piece to make it even better than it already is.

We finished the lesson pleased with our performances and with a smile on our faces! I do hope that our lessons continue to persist in ones like these recent ones and we finally manage to finish our scene.

    :D

  8. this blog can be very annoying! i posted my blog yesterday and it never showed up, so i will do it again! :(

Today in drama we worked on the winslow boy. Everyone had split up into groups to develop their characters in a certain part of the scene. I worked on the first part of the scene with Ashlie, Ema, and Astrid. All of us were off book so we were able to work on blocking. I have now started to focus on accent, and actions. We all played around with it today, and were able to see what worked and what didn’t’. it would make it easier if we were using props, I think that would help me develop my character.

We then moved onto the picture scene. We have begun to change the script so that it makes the plot more clear and character’s ideas are put across to the audience. This scene is very hard to develop, but I think it is because of the picture we had chosen, whilest not having a clear idea on what to write about. This scene is too repetitive and doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, and so we will have to work on it quite a bit.

We then started to write a script for the hitman. This scene is very interesting. I’m working with Ashlie, Astrid and Izzy which is fun since I havn’t had the chance to so far. This is an exciting piece as everyone has put effort and ideas into writing the script which will make a very good outcome, which has a hidden surprise ;)

Afterwards we moved onto writing a script for all the worlds a stage. We came up with the idea of showing 4 different girls’ lives by acting out a quick scene for each. The main idea is that even though people put on a smiling face, no one knows what happens behind it. Next time we will be able to develop it a lot further.

Finally we rehearsed A night on the mountain. Today we worked on blocking. Everyone in the group could learn their lines a bit better, but apart from that, the scene has come a long way. I would say it is the one which is most ready! Which means it wont be that hard to perform :D

This lesson we worked on alot of different things which seems to be the way we are going to continue to work in class, by having set times and a full plan for each moment of the classes.

We had time to work on the different pieces that we are developing, Although this way of working seem to get us moving more, there is still an issues with the fact that we cant get very much done with in the few minutes given to us, obviously that is all because of our own determination and time management.

I groups that we made, seem to be alright, some of my groups are noticeably ahead then the others, and are easier to work in because of the input from everyone.

The Hit man seems to be the hardest one to develop, for some reason my group cant find common ground to up ideas forward. Hopefully that will change, and we will come u with a great idea, I would like to put in more in to Drama but the last week i have been way to busy with Art and my mind has been on other things, and i have the feeling that in my groups my lack of enthusiasm is somewhat getting the rest of the group down.

All the worlds a stage is looking the brightest so far, We all seem to be happy with the development and the Idea of where we are going with it,of course with the exemption of some people, but that i guess is bound to happen that not everyone if fully on bored with the concepts and ideas.

The Picture scene is really getting me down, we where happy with it at first but now that we have to add more to it. All of us have created a mental block and we cant seem to get anywhere with it. Which is really bad because we need to get it done NOW! So when we get back we will know it off book and ready to preform.

Night on the mountain Is great, Everyone silly seems to be enjoying it, and the chemistry of our group seems to be getting better, i think we have a really good scene, and just as long as we can all get off book but the end of the easter holidays, then we will be ALL ready to
rock and roll! :P So i think out of all the groups Night on the mountain is the most promising!

Winslow Boy, i know im not the only one when i say i wish we could use the Winslow for course-work, because it is a really good scene and everyone seem to take it seriously and actually bother with lines. I thoroughly enjoy this scene and could spend all lessons just going over and over it. :)

There is a really good productive environment going on it drama class lastly, hopefully we use it well and get everything underway and complete it soon.
