Reflection - Wednesday, March 17

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Today we discussed the requirement of writing reflections after every class, rehearsed picture scenes, rehearsed "A Night on the Mountain", developed "All the World's a Stage I'm Going Through" and developed "The Hitman".

  1. Happy Patrick's Day EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!

So... Today we all started with a hilarious moment of standing next to the white board and giving a little speech about REFLECTION...RE-FLE-CTION!!!!
I found it really funny and the best thing was that it made me remember to write the REFLECTION!!! hahaha
so ... on the board it said how would we work for double lessons and we started of with the picture scene rehearsals...!
I might comment on that the picture scene is getting already annoying, because we've laernt it but we havent played it properly. But we still worked on it. We did not add up anything to it but we just went over it twice fully...!!! Hopefully it will continue improving.

The next thing we did was "The Night On The Mountain". Today we added up more stuff into our scene and plus me and Matilda finally managed to work with out hi-five hand snap...! I really like it and it really is working.
Mr Maclachlan helped us a bit of how we can improve it and we get more and more ideas every single time. That is great.

After the bell we came back in and Mr Maclachlan devided us into groups, and since I am not taking IGCSE drama exam, I was placed in the group with Beatrice, Desiree, Denis and Patrick. We didnt get far with the script for "All the World's a stage" but with "The Hitman" we got quite far, and I actually liked it a lot. However I wish Patrick and Denis would give more attention to what Beatrice Des and Me came up with...!

I really enjoyed the lesson and hopefully tomorrow we will work on "The Night on the Mountain"...!!!!

    THANKKK YOUUUUUUUUUUUU))
GOOD LUCK WITH THE 4th QUARTER.

  2. Todays lesson was fantastic, The enthusiasm and cooperation was good, and it felt like everyone was paying attention and was ready to ENJOY a drama lesson.

We started the lesson enforcing the importance of REFLECTION on the blog, and we recorded each of us stating it, which was fun and new to our class development.

We then spoke about the plan for the double lesson, which was all planed out and timed so we could do everything. We covered alot in the class.

We had time to go over the Picture Scenes that Need help, and Ashlie,Izzy and i got to talk about where we needed to go with the script. Then we quickly moved on the other things planned, like the Night on the mountain scene, where the four of us need to develop the scene into more movement and because Sam was in today, Mr Maclachlan spoke to us and gave us a sense of direction and pointed out elements in the script that we could use to make the movement in the scene a little more effective. Which helped us alot, just to feel more involved in the development of the scene.

The then split in to new groups and made a division in the class, between those doing the exam and those not.

We began almost afresh with the new scene, called All the worlds a stage im going through, and in my group i have Astrid whom i have never worked with and am looking forward to doing so, Matilda who i would like to work more with, and Ashlie who works well with me and we seem to be on the same page when it come to drama importance. So i am feeling good about this group, and to me thats really important because thats what allows the development of a scene to reach great results. We quickly came up with ideas for the scene and we all seem excited to develop it together.

Then we have difficulty splitting in to groups for "The Hitman" but once that was done, we sat for awhile thinking of possible idea, for some reason this scene seems to be harder to develop, so i think it will take alot of effort out of the group, and hopefully when sam gets back we can get started on it with more detail, and perhaps more ideas from Sam.

Like i said todays class was really rather pleasant, and everyone worked and still enjoyed it. Hopefully all classes continue to be like todays. :)

    HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY!

  3. MATILDA SAID:
today was a really really fun and helpful lesson!!!! :D
we first came in and straight away the energy level went up by far. We all had to read the reflection thing on the board whilst being filmed and it was really funny and the enthusiasm that everyone had was great. I hope it stuck into everyones heads now :P i dont see how it wont.
then for the rest of the double lesson we were rehearsing the picture scenes and the hit man and the night on the mountain.
this was really good and helpful because astrid and i really managed to go through our lines and learn them better. then the night on the mountain was much much more improved because we came up with a lot of new ideas and restaged our entire permormance. :D and i think its much better. we came up with new lines again but it is still not finished so we have to work more on it... :)
then we were finally put into the hitman groups after a lot of deciding.... :P and im with becky sam and blue. i think we have an idea about what we're doing but its not finalised enough to write about. but i think it will be good.
our all the worlds a stage is going to be really funny i hope. its me astrid blue and ashlie and i think it will be really good. we are basically going to have completely different personalities and then act like we are actors and stuff like that. it will be really good!!!! :D
i think this class was really fun and that we managed to do a lot. i hope the rest of the year will be like this too!!!!!
    :D :D

  4. Rebecca:

Today's lesson was extremely entertaining. Since we started with a fun activity, which lifted up everyone's spirits, we automatically got into character for each of our scenes. I think we should always start a drama lesson with the same sort of activity because it makes us achieve more promising scripts and ideas and gives us the 'oomph' we need for drama.

We surprisingly managed to get really far in our scenes, especially "All the world's a stage" since megan, izzy and I came up with an extremely engaging idea. This piece will most defiantly be held up for course work unless we don't manage to portray the characters and ideas we intend on doing, but since we have enthusiastic and promising students in this group i'm absolutely sure this piece will turn out flawless :)

We then changed groups for our next scene called "hit-man". This scene is extremely tricky because the obvious can easily be shown in a scene like this and my group doesn't intend on devising a scene that is to "cheesy", so we are desperately trying to think of some ideas that could lift up this performance. I am sure we will manage to think of something since this group is also very enthusiastic in what they are doing.

I enjoyed this lesson very much and hope our following lesson will persist in one like today. At the end of it all i think everyone will have a interesting piece to show since we are finally understand that drama is just as important as any other subject :)

  5. Today was a rather unusual start to the class. Mr. MacLachlan had us stand in front of a sign and re-cite what it said whilst he recorded it. The sign was highlighting the importance of reflections and how it can “Destroy” our grade. I think we all realized the significance of these reflections.

We then broke out into picture scene groups. We began to rehearse this scene. But I feel very frustrated with this scene. It was a strong beginning but I feel towards the end the lines have lost their importance. It becomes almost silly. I want to spend this weekend altering the end of the script to have a dramatic effect or even to make some sense of the plot. I feel like it strayed too much from the picture, and became pointless.

We then started to rehearse A Night On The Mountain. I was surprised at the jump of progress we had made. We went from people not knowing any lines and no actions, to having almost every line down and everyone knowing what to do. This scene has now come along way, we have established our purposes, I think it is almost ready to perform it.

We then changed our groups of All The Worlds A Stage, I love the idea we have know made. I am with Rebecca Sam and Izzy. We had an idea of us all holding a picture frame with all a different story to tell, then we will break up and perform a clip from each person’s life. I’m very happy with this scene I think it will be an excellent piece, as it is very original. I can’t wait!

We then figured out our groups for the hit man. It was hard to avoid the typical cliché someone’s on the loose who’s committed a lot of murders in the area. We came up with the idea of the hit man just moving into the neighborhood, but know one knows who he is, and so they invite him round to dinner, during this time they are questioning him about his life and they begin to discuss the hit man. In the end it is going to end up with the couple sitting on a settee watching the latest news on the hit man when he suddenly comes behind them with a knife in the air.
This scene has a lot of potential it would also be very fun to play around with props, and costume and setting! Can’t wait :D

  6. Todays lesson kicked off with a fun start that got us all happy and in a good mood. We had to recite something that was on while Mr. Maclachlan recorded it. It was about doing our reflection after every class and if we dont it will 'destroy' our grade. Then we went over what we were going to be covering during the time in class. Everything was divided into about 15 minute intervals of working on different pieces.

First we started off with our picture scenes. Blue, Izzy and I got together and tried to add more to our script as we have not finished it. We got to talking about what we needed to do or add and we didnt really accomplish too much script wise during that time but I think we now have a better idea as to where we are going to end with it.
Then after 15 minutes we switched into the Night on the mountain groups. Today sam was absent so we talked with Mr. Maclachlan and he gave us some ideas to help us out and make it more connective and interesting. We talked about how big our pile of clothes should be and how the blocking of us should be. Like who should sit where. And we came to the conclusion that like the two people that are mainly on each others side will sit on one side and the other two will sit on the other side of the mountain. Its those little things that really send a message and capture that audiences attention.

Then we had break. When we came back, we began to talk about 'all the worlds a stage im going through.' We spilt up the people who are doing IGCSE from those who arent, who will be creating a scene on there own. Then among the 8 who are doing the exam we divided two groups with 4 people. In my group its Astrid, Matilda, and Blue. Im very excited about this group of people because I havent worked will Astrid at all and I'm really looking forward to it and the only thing I worked on with Matilda was the Queen Must die, so im looking forward to that also. Blue and I have been in almost everything together lol but I enjoy being with her a lot because we connect a lot on the same ideas. So we began to create an idea of what we could do and so far we are off to a pretty good start.

Then after 15 minutes was up we started a whole new project which is 'The Hitman". This is really the first time we have ever talked about it at all. Again we did the same division of the groups form the exam takers and non exam takers. However it took us a bit longer to make the inside groups. But we eventually came to a conclusion we split up into 2 groups of 4 again. In my group there is Megan, Astrid, and Izzy. Im also very excited about this group as well because I get a chance to work with Megan who I havent worked on anything at all with her. We also began talking about our storyline and it is really good. Im looking forward to continuing this pice because i think its going to turn out very good.

    HAPPY ST. PATTY'S DAY :)

  7. Today's lesson was great and rather funny since we started with the whole reflection thing, we automatically got into character for each of our scenes. I think we should start Drama like this more often as it was entertaining and left us all in a good mood for the rest of the lesson.

We managed to get quite far with our scenes, especially "All the world's a stage". I was in a group with Megan, Sam and Rebecca, however Sam was sick so we had to think what we could do for her parts as well as ours. I think that this piece could make really good coursework because of the unusual idea of it. It was a very different and creative sort of idea and I think we may be able to play these 4 very different yet troubled characters quite well.

Our idea was that we hold up picture frames smiling for a few seconds. Then we repeat a line which is something like "I'm happy in the photo but no one knows how i really feel". We were 4 unrelated yet troubled teenagers each having their own problems. We will start with one of the scenes and act out their problem and then continue for the next person and so on.

We then changed groups for our next scene called "the hitman". This scene was difficult to create but we decided on an interesting idea, I think we had more trouble choosing groups rather than coming up with a scene. It didn't take us long and we all had ideas.

I found this to be a very productive lesson and we got a lot done and I'm looking forward to continuing on these scenes in class as I believe we are actually getting somewhere with them.

  8. Today we were first talking about the reflections and we were all recorded repeating how reflections are really important and how if we don’t do them it will destroy our grade so now I’m doing it because I don’t want to destroy my grade :D……The headmaster was in the room with us during the whole first period…I don’t know why but he was there listening to us and watching us. At the last 25 minutes of the first period we were rehearsing our picture scenes and we are improving but we couldn’t do it very properly because there was something wrong with Patrick’s tongue and he didn’t talk very clearly and he was very funny so we couldn’t rehearse very good.

At the beginning at the second period we rehearsed 2-3 times our ‘’Night on the Mountain’’ scenes and we are improving….we can do it without script now. During the rest of the second period we divided the class into three groups: one with the people that are not taking IGCSE exam and the other two were with the people who are taking it. We started doing our ‘’Hit man’’ script and this is how we spent our time…

  9. Beaatricee says:

Today's lesson worked really well as everyone was in a good mood and everyone was cooperating and doing what they were supposed to do. Maybe that was because Mr. P was in the room? But whatever it was, the lesson went much better than usual as there wasn't any arguing over what we would do in the lesson.

We started off the lesson by talking about reflections. We were all recorded reading off the board about reflections and how important they are and that if we don't do them they will destroy our grade :)

We then broke off into our picture scene groups. I don't particularly like this scene. It is very short and we can't make it longer, because Patrick doesn't even know his lines as it is. He had to read off of the paper while we rehearsed it, even though we have rehearsed it multiple times now.

After that, we worked on our 'A Night on the Mountain' scene. I like this scene a lot and in today's lesson we made the last adjustments to our script. I think once we all know our lines and our cues better, it'll be a very strong piece :)

Then we had break and when we came back we spoke about our 'All the World's a Stage' scenes. We changed our groups, to people who were doing the IGCSE and people who weren't. So, we decided since there aren't that many of us doing the IGCSE, we would just do one group for all of us. The group consists of Desiree, Emilia, Patrick, Denis and I. My group didn't get very far on the 'All the World's a Stage' scene, but then after 15 minutes we went on to 'The Hitman' scene. We stayed in the same group for that one as well :) We got quite far on this one and we have almost finished our script, so we will be ready to start rehearsing it soon!

HAAAPPY ST PATRICKS DAY ! :D
