  1. Today we had planned to work on the Winslow boy and all the worlds a stage. This didn't go according to plan since we realized our picture scenes needed a lot of work, since the performances were quite poor.

Firstly Denis, Patrick and Beatrice performed their picture scene. I really liked their plot and characters, although i believe they needed more work on the character development and extend their ideas. I liked how they added some humor to the scene, most of the class were laughing, it was very entertaining, i would love to see their scene once it is more developed.

Afterwards we started to work on our own scripts for the picture scene. The problem with mine and Emas was that it was too short. When we rehearsed our scene it was 4 minutes, but when it came to the performance it was only 2 minutes. I think our nervous energy got the better of us and we then began to skip lines, and muddled up words, which affected our grade.

We had good ideas for the script. We had decided to give the audience more information about the purpose of the scene. Before we were quite nervous in coming out and saying the daughter is a prostitute, so we said the village shame. i think changing this gives the audience a more clear understanding what is happening in the scene and the type and background of the daughters character (Polly)

i believe this scene will be a very good piece if we stay focused throughout the scene, and hopefully rememember our lines :D

Today we were supposed to work on a night on the mountain and the winslow boy but it did not go according to plan. At the beginning of the lesson we watched patrick denis and beatrice's picture scene, and the bit that i loved from it was patricks flip out, it was seriously entertaining and very realistic acting. I think once they add more lines and get to practice it abit more it will be great!

After we watched this me and des got to work on our picture scene, not having bekky to practice with was abit of a set back but bea helped us by reading her lines and we kept practicing it.. When bea had to go mr m. read her lines and we established that we would be lying against a wall watching out for ben in a really relaxed lying back position, its pretty chilled. I think we just need more memorisation of our lines and it will be great, we toned everything down and are quite there. The only thing i am slightly worried about is bekky hasnt been her for any of the new rehearsals so she will be abit clueless maybe on how we practised, but we can show her and we will surely get there in the end! I think we are all breaking out of our shell and coming into our characters more and more and we go over the script! great job my group :) see you all tomorrow to perform it!

Today in class we started off with watching Beatrice, Patrick and Denis picture scene which was a very interesting piece, I must say! I like how Patrick was quite a strange child, the role really suits him and I think that he really pulls it of. But I personally would like to see more action and tension between Beatrice and Denis (who are supposed to be the parents). It would have been better if Beatrice and Denis would have screamed at each other because then the message of them being in an argument would have come across better. But I like it.

After watching Beatrice, Denis and Patrick's 'Picture Scene', we moved on to working on our Picture Scenes. Me and Matilda worked on blocking the scene and how our characters would be able to come across more clearly. Tomorrow me and Matilda are re-performing our Picture Scenes during lunch.

Today we were going to rehearse our All the worlds a stage scenes but that did not go according to plan for various reasons. All groups will hopefully have a fully developed script by the beginning of the next quarter.
Then instead of going on to the winslow boy or anything else we decided to just practice our picture scenes as we will be re performing them again tomorrow or on friday. I am with Astrid and the first time we performed it was the time you were filming and the reason for that is because of absences which are unfortunately very frequent. But today really helped our group and we learnt a lot a lot and the blocking and scenery is ten times better than before. I feel much more confident and the fact that we will have props and the washing line will make it more real and put us into character more! :D
As for the night on the mountain, i really hope we dont get 0s or anything because, honest, we couldnt have done it really but i am really wishing that my group will work on it on lunch times so that when it comes to performing them again we will be a mile further along than we were the last time. I did not take any part in writing the script because i was sick when they did it and i didnt have the chance to read it before the night before we were going to act it out. If i would have read it earlier i would have made some changes and improvements, but its not too late :)
We'll see how tomorrows lesson goes and i am looking forward to reperforming the picture scenes to get a better outcome!!!

Today we only had a single lesson so not much happened but in the beginning Ema and Meg performed their picture scene and my personal opinion was that i liked it better the first time they did it a couple of lessons ago. It was much stronger then and had way more energy. Im sure they'll get it back for when they film it though :D
Then we decided to go into our Night on the Mountain groups to continue working on the scenes/scripts since we will be performing them next week. My group, Izzy and Ema, deleted our last script and have a better idea now which we will finsih and rehearse before next lesson. I feel much more confident with it now :)
Astrid and I were supposed to be re doing our picture scene at lunch and i had brought in costumes and stuff but then she went home sick :( so we will hopefully perform it on Friday. Like i said in yesterdays reflection, i think it will be far far better than the last time :D
As for the worlds a stage, well my group has to work on that before next week and i hope it turns out to be strong and funny, but we'll see!!!
I am no longer as nervous about the picture scene or the Night on the mountain scene, which is a load off my shoulders and feels really good!

  6. Today we started with Ema and Megan picture scene, they worked well but lacked enthusiasm, the scene has really good potential, and i enjoy watching them.

Then we separated and worked on out night on the mountain scenes. My group continued working on the script and tried to tone down the vulgar concepts, and we all contributed to the script.I think we all have a general favour for this scene and will do it with enthusiasm when preforming it. It is a vital scene and will a bit of tweaking we will get it perfect. All the members of the group work well together, and i think this is the most enjoyable group piece i have work on in our drama class.

I look forward to completing the scene and having a good piece for my course work. All of us seem to be pulling our weight so it should run smoothly.

  8. Today we had planned to work on the Winslow boy and all the worlds a stage. This didn't quite work out because we didn't have anything to show for all the world's a stage also we realized our picture scenes needed a lot of work because our previous performances were quite poor.

Denis, Patrick and Beatrice finally performed their picture scene. I actually really liked their plot and their ideas, however I think that they need to work on the characters just a little bit more and extend their scene. I liked what they did with the scene, it was very unexpected considering the picture. I think they could have a very funny scene when its done.

After that we went to work on our own scripts for the picture scene. The problem with our script was it was way too short. It was a good idea and rather funny but we needed to extend it. We started to extend the script however it still needed a lot of work and we have yet to put an ending on it. We spent most of the lesson brainstorming ideas as to how to continue the script and then wrote down some extra lines to add to it.

It was quite hard to think of what to do and we needed help with our ideas. Our original scene was very good and rather funny but although what we have added is still related to everything else we have said it is still quite different and I'm not sure if it will fit with what we did before... it becomes a more serious thing rather than silly like before.

I think we should be done and ready to perform this on Monday and we are all learning our lines and know what we want to do with it so I think everything should turn out quite well.

  9. On Tuesday we had a double lesson. We were supposed to work on All the Worlds A Stage and The Winslow Boy, but we all felt that we really needed to work on improving our picture scenes because they are really important for IGCSE. So first we started off with Denis, Patrick, and Beatrice with their picture scene. They werent all off book though and it was a bit short. But they really are off to a good, interesting start with it.

Then we started to work on our picture scenes, My group is Blue and Izzey. The problem with ours is that it is too short. So we worked on making the script a little bit longer, and adding more about the boy using the gun. We managed to add a bit more. We are making it so that the waitress is trying to convince the policeman to just let his son take one shot. no one will notice or really care. We also discussed about what to do for props and how we need to take that more into consideration and realy try and go all out. Blue gonna wear police stuff, im gonna wear more waitressy stuff and Izzy will dress more boyish. We're even thinking of using real eggs since its in our scene but we arent exactly sure how yet.

On Monday we are going to re perform it hopefully for a better grade, because this scene is veryy important and will most likely be sent to IGCSe
